Jardín de Los Pulpos

So here's what I 've been doing when I haven't been working, or spending time with the Seamonkey. I warn you, if you are one who doesn't like themed baby rooms, look away now, lest your retinas get scorched out of your head. Don't say I didn't warn you.

As you will see, the theme is "Octopus' Garden". All murals done by yours truly. Bedding is the sea creatures stuff from BRU, some of it modified - dust ruffle is now little curtains for the changing table shelves, the tab valences were modified to better fit the windows.

My favorite thing in the room is the Octopus Chair from Babystyle.
I still need to finish the curtain for this window and fix this valence. Notice the top of his dresser has "vintage" toys. These toys, including the Fisher Price corn popper, medical kit, stack rings, xylophone, and phone. All of these were actually mine when I was little. An older cousin, who inherited them for her kids, gave them back to me at my shower. I can't wait for Seamonkey to play with them - and I've promised to hand them down to another family member when he out grows them!
Main mural above his crib. The flag has his name on it.

Fish & seahorse, images from the bedding.
Closet wall, blank space is for a picture frame.
I think the boy likes it!

It's wonderful. I love the octopus over his crib. I've seen the bits and pieces you posted before, and liked it then, but it came together even better than I imagined. Nice job!

I will admit I sat there staring at the flag with his name on it going...what the hell is up with that handwriting? Before I realized you blurred it for privacy--duh!

He's such a cute little Seamonkey!!!

HOLY COW that is a cute room!! I LOVE it! I know you said you were crafty, but WOW. I love love love it. I think Sea Monkey definitely loves it, too. I think my favorite is the ode to Ringo on top-that's one of my favorite songs. :)

Really, it's amazing.

That nursery is total cuteness. I love the octopus mural - did you do that with a template or freehand? That is soo cool that you have toys from when you were young - all I still have is my raggedy ann doll and some barbies :) Great job on the room!

P.S. I dont' know what's going on with blogger - I got an email that you left a comment on my blog and when I go to it, it's not there! Weird!

That is awesome!

Okay, now get your arse up here and work your magic for Sweet Pea. I'm lame-o at that stuff so her nursery is a bit... um.... stark.

I think the Seamonkey likes it too. He looks so cute!!

I LOVE it!! That is adorable - I especially love the wording - did you do the letters?? My intentions were to write something on my princess's wall but never got around to it (we got the call and picked her up two weeks later).

Thanks everyone!

To answer questions -

It's all freehand, no templates. I draw it on the wall and when I'm satisfied, I paint it. Baby wipes make great erasers!

Yes I did the lettering. You can too - pretend you are in middle school and learning to write cursive. It's exaggerated cursive with some curly cues on the ends!

Am I for hire? Possibly....

I just found your blog through Ruth's Place. Congratulations on your recent adoption - the nursery looks great. I too am in the process of adopting (from China) and am a knitter too. Feel free to check out my adoption and/or knitting blog.
