Not much to say

Now it's my turn to be lame. I don't know how you guys post so much. When I have the time, I have nothing interesting to say, and when I think of a post I have no time to write it. And you guys post so much by the time I check bloglines you've got 43 entries and I can't possibly comment on all of them! So I guess I need to stop being a comment whore, huh? I get it, everyone's got a life, be happy when they read you at all.

So today is a "have time but nothing to say" day, but I feel like I need to post something or you'll all desert me. Work is work - no funny stories lately. Although I did see someone on the subway today - a grown woman - wearing an aqua Tinkerbell backpack with the word "Mommy" embroidered across the back. I assume there is a matching one attached to a 5 year old somewhere? Please lady, you shouldn't wear that unless you're with the 5 year old. And even then - it's not as cute as you think it is.

Seamonkey is doing well. He had a little breakdown today - daddy didn't make sure he got his afternoon nap, so he was sleeping at mealtime and I had to wake him up. (Daddy conveniently left for a social engagement) Normally I wouldn't do that, but he didn't have his afternoon bottle either, so if I didn't wake him up there was going to be a 3am screamfest for food, and that can't happen to me on a schoolnight. I tried to get him to ease into being awake and I thought we were clear for a while there, but as soon as I put the bottle in his mouth he freaked out. Nothing I did helped. Held him, put him in the crib, sing, dance, nothing. Scream scream scream. Finally after a good half hour he called himself down and just started smiling and laughing. Psychotic I tell you. It's a good thing he's cute.

Speaking of cute...for some reason this week he found his feet and hands. A little behind at 6 months I think but whatever. I video taped him today holding his hands up in front of his face and moving his fingers and bending his arms, totally fascinated. The video shows him quietly observing, then me laughing, then him laughing at me laughing, then he gets all serious and looks at his hands again...round and round. It was so freaking funny. It was like he was stoned or on acid or something (not that I know about that stuff heh)..I was waiting for him to be like "Duuuuuudddeeee, look at all the coloooorrrrss" in a surfer dude voice or something. He found his feet too, and finds the need to munch them whenever he is on his back now. The verdict? Tasty:

Oh and guess what we did. We signed him up for swimming. I would say "swimming lessons" but I'm not sure there is much in the way of things to teach a 6 month old at this point. But he will now have one on one sessions with an instructor (young college kid) at this place for a half hour once a week until he's two. No seriously. We paid for enough sessions to get him through the next 15 months. It seems a little much, but really it ended up much cheaper that way, and if we opt out at some point, we only lose our deposit, which isn't much. But in reality I really want to keep him going. He really loves the bathtub. As in, he loves to have water literally dumped on his head, splashes like crazy and hates to come out. So I really want to keep him comfortable in the water. We live near the water, my dad has a boat and my husband surf fishes. It's really important to us that he learns to be comfortable and safe. The place didn't blink an eye about him being so young...in fact they encourage it, since apparently babies have a natural instinct for swimming and it's best to start them as young as possible. And seamonkey seemed fascinated by the place - didn't cry once seeing all those strangers in one place. It's crawling with kids, and check out the mural they have at the pool! I'll let you know how it goes.

Happy Monday

Thanks for the comment on our blog...it is obviously something that has been said to a lot of people and hurts everytime they hear it.
Before I go, I just wanted to tell you your son is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! What a handsome boy. I know you are proud to call him your own(not just because he is cute :)). I plan on cruising around your blog to catch up on your story. Take care.

I still love reading your blog and catching up on you and the Seamonkey. I think early swim lessons are a GREAT idea! I hope they work out well for both of you.

I've been looking at great big houses on real estate sites and great big sibling sets at the waiting children posting sites, but haven't yet talked with spouse or started a home study. How crazy is that! Keep on posting. We're all rooting for you!

I think swimming lessons are a great idea. If he already has a love for the water, why not encourage it?

Hey, he IS seamonkey, right, so swimming lessons only seem right.

Don't feel lame. When I don't feel like blogging, I just take a break (though I haven't done that in a while). I try not to bore you all to tears.

Yup, seamonkeys gotta swim! But seriously, probably a good move to capitalize on his affinity for the water now. I mean he *likes* having water poured on his head? Wow!
Love the pics--don't you wish you were that flexible again?

That looks like a fun place for swimming. He will love it. I started taking my daughter in the water and dunking her at 6 months. She still loves swimming.

That boy is gorgeous. He is probably the same exact size as Mimi. I signed the girls up for swim too BUT only for 4 sessions. I guess I should do more huh? Funny, my friend says it is just a poop watch.

Good to hear from ya though!

You know, he is such a beautiful little guy, those eyes of his are gorgeous. You are one lucky lady.

I just wanna say how much I value your comments on my blog. To have someone who's been through all this stuff that I'm so scared about and can give me perspective is great. So thank you!

He's beautiful. Swimming lessons are a great idea, especially if you live near water. I had a mother tell me that her kid's early swimming lessons saved the child's life. She fell into the pool at 18 months and swam herself to the edge before anyone had even realised she was in the water. And that mural is amazing.

He has such beautiful eyes and such long eyelashes! I love the picture of him on his back, too cute! Swim lessons for a baby is the best idea. I have always said start as early as possible so they become little fish and not afraid. I saw my mom freak about beaches, pools, she did not know how to swim. As a small child, I kind of felt if she was scared there must be something wrong there. I love the water but don't feel that comfortable swimming. My sister in law always put my nephew in the tub when he was fussy and it always made him happy!

Everyone knows there is nothing yummier than babies toes (you do have to remember to remove the sock lint first though:)

I honestly think you need to get that kid on TV or print ads. He can earn enough in 6 months to pay for his entire college education. He is COMPLETELY yummy :)

I got my boys swimming when they were very young too..it is so nice when they aren't afraid of the water but even better if they know what to do when/if they fall in somewhere! (trust me, with boys it is almost always WHEN not IF :)

He's so delicious. I love it when they discover their hands. It's like sitting with someone on acid :-)

Those pictures are so incredibly cute!! He's adorable. I hope you're going to frame them! Isn't it fun when they discover something new, even when it's so simple...like their feet?
